Hilla Ginwala Scholarships for Indian Students at University of Oxford

The Hilla Ginwala Scholarship was set up in memory of Mrs. Hilla Ginwala by her husband Mr. Peston Padamji Ginwala. Mr. Ginwala was a noted Indian barrister who studied at Balliol from 1937 to 1939, and wanted to help Indian students who shared Mrs. Ginwala's love of learning.

What does it cover?
The Hilla Ginwala Scholarship will provide £10,000 per year towards living expenses. The combined Clarendon – Hilla Ginwala award will cover tuition fees and college fees in full as well as providing a grant for living expenses.

Awards are made for the full duration of a student's fee liability for the agreed course. The continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility:
Candidates should be Indian nationals and should be applying to start any new full-time graduate course, with the exception of PG Cert and PG Dip courses, at the University. Candidates must not be intending to exercise in Great Britain the skills which they may obtain as a result of the Scholarship

All subjects will be considered, but with preference for modern languages (i.e. French or Italian).

As the Scholarships are being made in partnership with the Clarendon Fund all candidates must have been selected for a Clarendon Scholarship.

Term dates for every academic year:
The academic year at Oxford runs from October to June. The year is divided into three eight-week terms, Michaelmas (autumn), Hilary (spring), and Trinity (summer).

How to apply:
Eligible candidates will be considered automatically, provided that you submit your application for graduate study by the January deadline. You must have secured a place on your chosen programme of study by the expected final decision date in the month of March in Every Year.  Applications with an outstanding admissions decision after this date, or applications which are re-evaluated against the later March deadline field are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
