WHO Fellowships Programme

The World Health Organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations. Its objective, under the Constitution, is the “attainment by all people of the highest possible level of health”.

About WHO Fellowships:
The WHO Fellowship Programme was among the first programmes created since the founding of WHO in 1948. With more than 1000 fellows per year and approximately 120 000 fellows trained under this programme, WHO is considered to be the biggest single fellowship provider within the United Nations System.

There are several fellowships are supported by WHO for students from countries of United Nations.

  • Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Fellowships
  • WHO Regional Office for Africa – Health sciences education systems including medical education
  • WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean (EMRO) Fellowships
  • WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia – Education training and support
  • WHO Regional Office for Western Pacific – Fellowships

To benefit from the fellowship and to leave the best impression on the host institute and country, is the desire of all fellows and of their countries. In doing this, fellows also help to maintain the goodwill of governments and of teaching and other institutions towards the World Health Organization’s Fellowship Programme.
